How to Care for Body-Safe Intimate Products
Looking after intimate wellness products is part of looking after yourself.
Good care keeps things hygienic, helps products last longer, and makes them more comfortable to use. You don’t need a complicated routine. A few simple habits are enough.
-
Clean before and after use
Wash with warm water and a mild, unscented soap, or a cleaner made for body-safe products. Avoid harsh household cleaners, alcohol, or anything scented — they can damage materials and irritate skin. Pat dry with a clean cloth or let the item air-dry fully before putting it away.
- Match the cleaner to the material
Body-safe silicone: Warm water and mild soap, or a dedicated toy cleaner.
Glass or stainless steel: Usually easy to wash thoroughly; many pieces can handle hotter water.
Other materials: Follow the product notes. If you’re unsure, gentle soap and water is the safest starting point. If a product is rechargeable or has a charging port, keep water away from the charging point unless the item is clearly waterproof.
-
Store them somewhere clean and dry
A clean pouch, a dedicated drawer, or the original storage bag works well. Keep products away from dust, direct sunlight, and extreme heat. It’s also best to avoid storing different materials pressed tightly together for long periods, especially silicone against silicone, unless the maker says that’s fine.
-
Check them now and then
Look for nicks, sticky patches, or changes in texture. If something no longer feels smooth or looks damaged, it’s time to replace it.
-
Keep it simple
Care doesn’t have to be perfect. Clean, dry, and store your item with a bit of care and attention — that’s the core of it. Body-safe products are designed to be kind to your skin. Looking after them the same way keeps that promise going.
